I’ve seen plenty of green smoothie pics popping up on Instagram lately but until yesterday I hadn’t ever had a green smoothie!
The idea of adding baby spinach to my smoothie felt, well pretty revolting. Now, I like baby spinach. Very much. But to blend it and drink it – as a mushy, green liquid seemed pretty yucko.
However, I do like the idea of drinking a nice and healthy smoothie so I decided to take the plunge.
Here’s my rough recipe (I don’t really measure stuff…)
- 1 cup of almond milk (or any milk!)
- a large handful of baby spinach
- 1 banana
- a handful of blueberries
- 1/2 an apple
- a few ice cubes
I wished I’d also thrown in chia sees. I meant to – I eat them on my cereal each day but I forgot!
The verdict?
Surprisingly GOOD! And I couldn’t taste the spinach at all. I’m keen to start experimenting with other ingredients now..my friend throws in some chopped pineapple and mint which sounds great! And there are plenty of green smoothie recipes on the net. I love this site for some ideas!!
